Dr. Tobias J. Hessel

Tobias J. Hessel, attorney since 2009, represents clients in national as well as multijurisdictional litigation. His work comprises mainly the representation in proceedings regarding the infringement of patents or utility models, whereby he participates in parallel opposition and nullity proceedings at the European Patent Office as well as the German Federal Patent Court. Tobias J. Hessel particularly focuses on the areas of life sciences, telecommunications and mechanical engineering.

Tobias J. Hessel studied law at the University of Osnabrück.
He worked as a research fellow at the Institute for White Collar Crime (Prof. Dr. Andreas Ransiek, LL.M.) at the University of Osnabrück. where he earned his Ph.D. with a thesis that compares German and U.S. American law.

Tobias J. Hessel put his primary emphasis throughout his career on intellectual property law as well as U.S. law. During his legal internship he worked at an international law firm in Düsseldorf and Chicago with a focus on intellectual property law.
He has experience in handling transborder proceedings on taking evidence under the rules of the Hague Convention.

Tobias J. Hessel is visiting lecturer for Patent Law at the faculty of law of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main and visiting lecturer at the faculty of law of the University of Osnabrück for Patent Law.
